The Civil Aviation Committee (CAC) has extended the open skies policy until the end of 2027, QazMonitor reports citing the CAC press service.
The open skies agreement permits foreign airlines to fly over Kazakhstan’s air space to conduct international flights.
It currently operates in 12 international airports: Astana, Almaty, Taraz, Shymkent, Aktau, Semey, Karagandy, Oskemen, Pavlodar, Petropavl, Kokshetau, and Turkistan.
The policy was also introduced at Aliya Moldagulova International Airport in Aktobe for the purpose of regional development.
Travel policies like this help attract new foreign carriers, increase market competitiveness, open international routes, reduce ticket costs, and develop tourism and transport accessibility across cities.
