The share of domestic carriers in the global transportation market increased by 7%, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Transport Committee.

National carriers managed to increase cargo turnover through seaports by 19% in the first 11 months of 2022. This figure includes a 24% growth in container transportation, as well as an increase in rail freight turnover by 6%.

In addition, the committee is working on a legislative framework for the Aktau seaport operations and the implementation of international treaties on shipwreck removal.

The previous year saw the start of several projects in the railway field, such as the construction of the second Dostyk-Moiynty track. To address the issues of bottlenecks in transit areas, feasibility studies for the Darbaza-Mactaaral project and the construction of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway section are underway.

For 2023, the transport committee outlined plans to purchase additional passenger railcars and renew the country’s bus fleet under the preferential leasing program. Moreover, Kazakhstan is working on an agreement with Russia on mutual recognition of maritime training.

There are also plans to introduce a digital management system for transport documents.
