Kazakhstan to Suspend Agreement with British Classification Society

The Transport Committee currently recognizes 4 maritime classification societies

Due to improper fulfillment of the terms and conditions, the Transport Committee sent a notice to Lloyd's Register Group maritime classification company to suspend the agreement effective December 1, 2023, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry of industry and infrastructural development.

Kazakhstan has 286 seagoing vessels classified and surveyed by the local Register of Shipping and foreign classification societies recognized by the Committee in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Currently, the country recognizes 4 foreign classification societies – Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, and RINA.
