Foreign Tourists in Kazakhstan Bought Goods for ₸287M via Tax Free Program

According to the State Revenue Committee, a three-year government tax deduction program helped foreign tourists in Kazakhstan to purchase goods worth ₸287 million, QazMonitor reports.

During the period of the pilot project Tax Free, which launched in December 2019, tourists made purchases of goods totaling ₸287.3 million, said the Committee. The compensation amounted to ₸22.2 million.

Tax Free offers compensation of VAT amount to individuals who are citizens of foreign countries when purchasing goods worth at least 20 MCI.

The program runs until July 2023.
