The development of Kazakhstan’s 5G infrastructure requires an investment pool of ₸164 billion, said the ministry of digital development, innovations, and aerospace industry, QazMonitor reports citing Central Communications Service.
The ministry’s representative Askhat Orazbek went over the issues of organizing the auctions for the allocation of 5G frequency bands. The companies that passed the requirements for the bidding process include Kar-Tel (Beeline), Mobile Telecom-Service (Tele2 and Altel), Kcell (Kcell and Activ), and two telecom consortiums – Mezhdunarodnye Telekommunikatsionnye Sistemy Kazakhstana and Kazakhtelecom.
The initial lot price was set at five times the annual interest rate which amounted to ₸1.761 billion. The documentation was approved on November 15, 2022.
Earlier, QazMonitor wrote that the first and second lots of the auctions have gone to Mobile Telecom Service (Tele2 and Altel) and Kcell (Kcell and Activ) for the price of ₸62.7 billion and ₸93.4 billion, respectively.
