Kazakhstan’s Chief Sanitary Doctor Recommends Wearing Masks in Public Places

The holiday season brings a rise in cases of coronavirus, influenza, and ARVI

The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a meeting on the epidemiological situation and measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, influenza, and acute respiratory infection (ARI) in Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry of healthcare.

Aizhan Yesmagambetova, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Kazakhstan and Vice Minister of Health described the epidemiological situation of coronavirus infection in the country as stable.

“According to the epidemiological situation assessment matrix, the republic and all its regions are in the green zone. Up to 300 cases of positive COVID-19 results are registered in a day; 99% of patients have recovered," she said.

She also noted that the spread of infection has been monitored in 12 regions: Astana city, Almaty city, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Abay, West Kazakhstan, Karagandy, Ulytau, Kostanai, Kyzylorda, Mangistau.

Along with the coronavirus, there has been a rise in cases of the flu and respiratory infections. To prevent the spread of infection, Yesmagambetova recommended wearing masks in crowded places.

In closed spaces, the Chief Sanitary Doctor also instructed to adhere to the following rules: the use of spacious premises to avoid crowding; uninterrupted functioning of ventilation/air conditioning system in the premises; in case of absence of artificial air ventilation system, ventilation of the room before the event; observance of mask mandate during meetings with voters.
