The opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Banska Bystrica town of Slovakia was held on December 19, QazMonitor reports.
Tibor Lebocky, a well-known public figure and President of the Slovak Hunting Chamber, is the appointed Honorary Consul.
The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko, Kazakh Ambassador to SlovakiaTolezhan Barlybaev, regional leadership of Banska Bystrica, representatives of the public, business, scientific, and cultural circles, journalists, and diplomats.
In his opening speech, Vassilenko said the opening of the Honorary Consulate was timed to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Slovakia (January 1, 1993).
Banska Bystrica is the largest financial, scientific, educational and tourist center of Slovakia, which houses the National Bank of Slovakia and international financial companies, leading universities and research institutes in the country.
