American Tech Giant to Provide Kazakh Schools with Digital Education Programs

The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with American tech company Microsoft on the digitalization of education, QazMonitor reports citing the Minister of Education Askhat Aimagambetov.

According to the minister, Microsoft will provide schools with the Office 365 Education digital platform. Additionally, the company will hold courses for teachers on the use of STEM in the learning process, analysis, and suggestions for updating school computer science programs.

"Thanks to the agreements, the company will provide best practices for educational change based on the Microsoft Education Transformation Framework methodology. In addition, the teaching staff will have the opportunity to participate in the Digital Transformation Leaders program,” said Aimagambetov. He also noted that the company will facilitate digital literacy among teachers and students through the Microsoft Digital Literacy curriculum and the international Microsoft Educator program.

The minister also drew attention to the prior partnership between the parties, noting the close work with Microsoft on professional development and certification of teachers. Moreover, Kazakh schools took part in Microsoft's Imagine Cup Junior program, in which students aged 13-18 participated in a global student hackathon.
