A logistics hub with the possibility of intermodular transportation will be created at the site of the Aliya Moldagulova International Airport in the Aktobe region, QazMonitor reports citing the Aktobe akimat.

During the Investment Aktobe-2022 international forum held in Astana, the board chair of the airport Dastan Maliyev and the board chair of S Sistem Lojistik Hussein Barlin signed a memorandum of understanding.

S Sistem Lojistik became the first company in the logistics sector to build a private warehouse service for airlines. Today it has more than 100,000 square meters of storage space, including in airports in Izmir, Ankara, Antalya, and Istanbul. The company started its activities in Kazakhstan this year.

S Sistem plans to build a cargo and container terminal at Aktobe's airport and will manage them as a sole operator.

The container terminal will have an area of 500 thousand square meters. It will include an indoor distribution center, parking for waiting containers, a transshipment terminal for storage and handling of goods and cargo, and transshipment and storage of containers with a railway connection on land next to the airport.

The volume of investments will amount to $160 million.
