Kazakhstan and Greece have signed a memorandum between the foreign ministries on cooperation in training diplomatic service officers, QazMonitor reports citing Kazinform.

Foreign Minister of Greece Nikos Dendias arrived on a state visit in Astana, meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi. The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political and economic spheres.

Greece is an important trade partner of Kazakhstan in Southern Europe, says Tleuberdi. Over the ten months of 2022, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $ 1.4 billion, which is 28% higher than in the same period last year.

This year, Kazakhstan and Greece are celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations. A number of initiatives were launched to foster greater ties in various industries.

In June 2022, Kazakhstan and Greece launched the Kazakh-Greek business council which allows business communities to gather and exchange information to facilitate trade, tourism, and economic activities in both countries.

"Another important event of bilateral cooperation this year was the regular 5th meeting of the Kazakh-Greek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation, which took place on October 19 in Astana,” said Tleuberdi.

The IGC consolidated basic agreements of the parties on the further development of relations in the areas of trade, economy, investment, energy, transport, education, and science.
