Kazakhstan’s notary became an official member of the International Union of Notaries during the congress hosted today in Cancun, Mexico, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry of justice.
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Mussin and the chairperson of the Republican Chamber of Notaries Asel Zhanabilova took part in the official ceremony.
The Union is an NGO whose interests are represented at the UN, UNESCO, The Hague Conference on Private International Law, the European Commission and the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and other international organizations.
To date, there are 91 member states in the Union.
Kazakhstan's accession will allow domestic notaries to exchange professional experience and notarial acts issued in Kazakhstan to be recognized abroad.
Kazakhstan had applied to join the Union all the way back in 2003.
Since then, the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan, together with the Republican Chamber of Notaries, has been improving national legislation for many years in order to achieve international standards for notary services.
