As part of the presidential visit to France, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy signed agreements of cooperation with French company ALSTOM Transport SA and Société Générale bank, QazMonitor reports.
ALSTOM will produce 245 electric locomotives for Kazakhstan Temir Zholy at the Kazakhstan plant in 2023-2029. This deal will be conducted with the assistance of the Ministry of Finance of France, state export-import agency BPIFrance and Société Générale bank, which will subsidize the interest rate.
This will solve the problem of the existing shortage of electric locomotives and enable the provision of quality services to Kazakh shippers.
During the reception of the Kazakh president in Paris, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, the chairman of the board of directors and the chief executive director of Alstom, informed that ALSTOM plans to invest 50 million euros in the realization of projects on production, service of electric locomotives, and equipment for rolling stock and infrastructure of rail transport.
