Akim of Astana Altay Kulginov met with Canadian senators, diplomats, and entrepreneurs to discuss the establishment of a twin-town relationship between Astana and Toronto, QazMonitor reports.

Kulginov received senators Jean-Guy Dagenais and Victor Oh along with First Secretary of the Canadian Embassy in Kazakhstan Carol Parr. The parties raised the topic of cooperation in education, tourism, economy, and culture. The Canadian business delegation expressed interest in opening enterprises, such as a production plant for liquified natural gas, in Astana.

"Joint cooperation between the two countries allows us to exchange experience on topical issues, launch new enterprises, create jobs, and attract investment," the akim said.
