Kazakh company Tesis LLP was selected as the auction winner for the implementation of the 20 MW solar panel plant in the Kyzylorda region, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of KAZAKH INVEST.
The project will be allocated an area of 50 hectares near the Aral Sea with the planned launch in 2024. Currently, the region has nine solar power plants with a total capacity of 89 MW. The new project is estimated to operate for 20 years.
According to the regional director of NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC Murat Balabayev, the Kyzylorda region holds great potential for solar energy production with the duration of solar radiation up to 3,000 hours per year.
To date, Kazakhstan has 134 renewable energy facilities (REF) with a total capacity of 2325 MW. In 9 months of 2022, the electricity volume generated by REF amounted to 3,917 million kWh in the total volume of electricity production, which accounts for 4.6% of all electricity generated in the country.
