President Tokayev confirmed that Kazakhstan will host the II Turkic Universiade next year at the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand today, QazMonitor reports citing KazTag.
The organization of the Universiade is a part of a larger strategy to strengthen the scientific and educational ties of the Turkic states.
"We need to develop academic mobility and create conditions for a stronger intercultural dialogue among our students," said Tokayev.
There was also a proposal to form a common educational space for higher education institutions by establishing a common network of universities in 2023. The purpose is to enable students to learn Turkic languages and get acquainted with each other's history and culture.
