Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi paid an official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation and interaction as part of the upcoming 2023 chairmanship of North Macedonia in the OSCE, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Kazakh ministry of foreign affairs.
The Foreign Minister met with President Stevo Pendarovski and the Speaker of the Assembly Talat Jafferi, as well as with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani.
Current issues on the international agenda were discussed with the North Macedonian president.
During his talk with Jafferi, Tleuberdi informed about the process of strengthening the parliamentary and the multi-party system in Kazakhstan. The parties discussed in detail the ways of expanding inter-parliamentary contacts and activation of parliamentary friendship groups.
During the negotiations with Minister Osmani, the sides noted the dynamic and progressive development of Kazakhstani-North Macedonian cooperation.
The parties highlighted the importance of launching the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the first meeting of which will be held in Skopje on November 3, 2022, and co-chaired by the ministers of economy of Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
The parties considered joint actions for further development of trade and economic cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, health, education, transport, and logistics. Agreements were reached on expanding the legal and contractual framework of bilateral relations, as well as business, cultural and educational exchanges.
As a result of the talks, the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and North Macedonia adopted a joint statement that contains the main results of the parties' agreements.
The decision to open the Embassy of Kazakhstan in North Macedonia in 2023 was announced, which will give additional impetus to strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
The results of the visit demonstrated that Astana and Skopje are reliable partners and can act as agents of mutual interests at the regional and global levels.
