Comic Con Astana festival organizers announced one of the first star headliners. It turned out to be Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, QazMonitor learned from the press service of the festival.
Being one of the most in-demand European actors in Hollywood, Mads Mikkelsen is known to audiences for his roles of contradictory antagonists in such projects as Hannibal series, Doctor Strange, Casino Royale, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
In 2020, Mikkelsen replaced Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Among the other important projects in Mikkelsen’s filmography: Nicolas Winding Refn’s criminal drama Pusher and its sequel, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and At Eternity’s Gate biopics, Clash of the Titans and The Three Musketeers action-adventure films, Chaos Walking fantastic blockbuster, Arctic survival thriller, The Promised Land (Bastarden) historic drama.
Mads Mikkelsen has won 50 nominations from various movie awards and festivals. For his work in Vinterberg’s psychological drama The Hunt (Jagten) Mads Mikkelsen was honored with the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Later he played in Another Round (Druk) comedy drama also directed by Vinterberg. The film won an Oscar as Best Foreign Film and brought Mikkelsen a series of awards at prestigious film festivals, including European Film Academy as well as BAFTA Award nomination. Mikkelsen won Saturn Award as Best Actor on Television for his role of Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal series.
Other accolades include Mikkelsen’s voicing and providing motion-capture for Clifford Unger in Death Stranding video game. The actor made an appearance in Rihanna’s Bitch Better Have My Money music video.
Among the upcoming actor’s projects is Dust Bunny horror where he co-stars with Sigourney Weaver and David Dastmalchian. This project will be written and directed by Hannibal’s author Bryan Fuller.
Comic Con Astana is a festival dedicated to the comics industry, cinema, video games, anime, and other modern popular culture sectors.

What to expect: meetings and autograph sessions, premieres, sneak previews and presentations, cosplay show, graphic novels’ alley, musical and dance groups’ performances. World studios will present their interactive and entertainment booths.
The festival will feature a cosplay contest with participants from 14 countries and a prize pool of 12 million tenge.
