A trail camera installed inside Altyn-Emel National Park managed to capture rare footage of the endangered Turkestan lynx, Tengri Travel reports.

The video shows a family of four, a female lynx and her three kittens, walking past the camera during the day. Researchers believe that their appearance indicates an improvement in conditions in their habitat.

The Turkestan lynx is a subspecies of the common lynx that mainly inhabits mountainous areas and forests. Its prey animals include the young of the Siberian ibex and wild boar, and, less frequently, the Siberian godwit. The lynx is included in the Red Book of Kazakhstan.
