A number of famous Kazakh musicians paid tribute to the memory and work of Batyrkhan Shukenov by recording covers of the artist's legendary hits, Tengrinews.kz writes.
Going down memory lane
Singer Jeltoksan made a cover of "Kairan Konil-Ai" while singer and composer Najib Vildanov together with the band Soul Note performed "Lullaby". Galymzhan Moldanazar sang the all-time favorite "Otan Ana".
The performance video were published on the official YouTube channel of the musical project Oyu. The recording process was supported by Batyrkhan Shukenov Public Foundation.
On the record
Prior to this, the limited-edition vinyl album "Otan Ana" was released in December of 2021. Later, the Batyr Lab Vol.1 compilation album appeared on streaming platforms. The compilation included eight tracks created by members of the musical residency established by the Batyrkhan Shukenov Foundation.
The original album "Otan Ana" was first presented on October 26, 2002, in Almaty. For the past 19 years, the songs have garnered a cult following without losing their value and relevance.
Only 100 copies of the record were issued.
The Batyrkhan Shukenov Foundation held a contest among artists and designers to create the design of the record, which was won by the design concept of Guldana Tauasar from Almaty.
