Kazakh scientist Gulzhan Tuzelbayeva infuses the classic perfume formula with a touch of an exquisite apple fragrance inspired by the renowned Almaty aport variety, QazMonitor reports citing Khabar24.

The idea for this distinct fragrance came to Gulzhan during her studies in France, where she acquired the necessary knowledge and expertise to bring her vision to life. Utilizing a combination of natural ingredients such as sandalwood, cedar, and a small drop of synthetic apple, she achieved the desired aroma. She also introduced vanilla and orange to the formula to add a delightful sweetness with a hint of sourness.

“My academic thesis was about perfume based on the aport aroma. I found it really important to develop [the fragrance]. Here I worked my way straight through the entire process – from the tree, petals, flowers, and eventually to the blossoming. My goal was to create a red apple note with a touch of sourness,” said the perfumer.

Each ingredient for the fragrance is carefully selected, forming the basis of the formula. These components are then blended and poured into flasks, a process that takes approximately 2-3 weeks to create one fragrance. Gulzhan shared that each scent comprises around 20 ingredients, some sourced from France while others are developed by her.

Gulzhan and her colleagues also craft scented candles and essential oils. A key ingredient in their creations is the Almaty rose, which thrives near Talgar under specific climatic conditions. This particular variety boasts a delightful flavor – one of the most popular and expensive ingredients worldwide. Producing just a kilogram of rose essence takes astounding 770,000 kilograms of rose petals.

Today, the entrepreneur's company boasts an impressive range of around 60 perfumes, 50 candles, and 30 home fragrances. Gulzhan aims to establish a factory to produce up to 10,000 units per month.
