Kazakh Film Wins Award for Best Music Score at Minsk Film Festival

The soundtrack previously won an award at the Kinoshock festival in Moscow

Kazakh composer Dana Zulpykhar was awarded the prize for the Best Sound/Score in the film “Zere” at Listapad international film festival in Minsk, Belarus, QazMonitor reports citing Kazakhfilm.

The full-length Kazakh film directed by Dauren Kamshibaev participated in the film festival, which was held on November 4-11.

“Zere” tells the story of the freedom-loving protagonist who rebels against her mother's will when, after the tragic death of her husband, she decides to sell her daughter to the richest and most influential man in the village.

The cast includes Adina Bazhan, Sanurjan Suleimenov, Murat Bisembin, Berik Aitzhanov, Olga Landina, Yelzhas Rakhim. The film was shot near Lake Balkhash, on the island of Taisoigan, nestled against the background of Moin Kum sands.

In late September, “Zere” won the prize for best music in the film competition at the Kinoshock festival in Moscow.
