The Kazakh feature film "Mukagali" won the grand prize at the international film festival Meta Film Fest in Dubai, QazMonitor reports citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
More than 70 films from 25 countries were shown at the festival, which covers the film industry of the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Kazakh directors showed four films at the festival: “Mukagali”, “Dawn of the Great Steppe'', “Akyn” and “Konokrady”.
The film directed by Bolat Kalymbetov tells about the final years of the life of Kazakh poet Mukagali Makatayev.
The film won the jury award at the 25th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the special prize at the Kazan Film Festival. Artistic Director Yermek Utegenov also received the jury diploma at the International Literature and Cinema Film Festival in Gatchina, Russia.
