Popular beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) plans to launch the construction of a soft drinks plant in Shymkent’s industrial zone, QazMonitor reports with reference to Kazakh Invest.
Mustafa Beltekin, director of the Turkish CCI’s Kazakh branch, met with Shymkent’s mayor Murat Aitenov as well as representatives from the national investment company Kazakh Invest last week to discuss the project implementation.
The new plant is expected to have a production capacity of 262 million liters per year and to create more than 100 jobs. It will be constructed on the site of the new industrial zone Zhuldyz.
Kazakhstan has two Coca-Cola plants operating in Astana and Almaty. According to Aitenov, opening the third plant in Shymkent would solidify its status as the country's third-largest city and thus provide the impetus for attracting important investment projects.
