Sberbank's Kazakhstan subsidiary was sold to Baiterek national management holding. The deal took place on August 18, 2022, QazMonitor reports citing Kapital.

According to the Kazakhstan Network Information Center, on August 19, "Sberbank of Russia" SB JSC had already registered the domain name dalabank.com.kz.

On June 23, the head of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Development of the Financial Market, Madina Abylkasymova, stated that Baiterek was in talks with Sberbank to acquire its Kazakh subsidiary.

She continued, saying that the details of the deal would be announced closer to the completion of all procedures. In case the deal takes place, the ownership (100% of shares) will be transferred to the appropriate buyer. During the conversation, it was also revealed that "Sberbank Kazakhstan" has obtained liquid assets and a high-quality loan portfolio.

This wouldn’t require a new banking license. It does not mean that there will be a new bank - just a change of the shareholder.

Kazakh subsidiary began paying dividends on common shares for 2021 to its Russian shareholder on June 1. The website of KASE reported that the number of dividends per share will amount to ₸10,125.31 (including taxes). The total amount of payment was not specified.

Based on the calculation of the total number of outstanding common shares multiplied by the amount of dividend per share, it can be assumed that the number of dividends will reach ₸130 billion or 99.9% of net income.

Almost a month later, on July 11, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Treasury Department issued a license, which extended the deadline for completing transactions with SB Sberbank for three months, from July 12, 2022 to October 11, 2022.

This means that during this period, Sberbank Kazakhstan will continue to operate as usual, and its clients will be able to make transactions with payments and transfers without any restrictions. Earlier it was reported that the license OFAC will be valid only until July 12, 2022.
