Kazakhstan Opens National Pavilion at Alibaba

130 local companies will be represented

On June 24, 2022, the opening ceremony of the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan was held on the international electronic platform Alibaba.com, QazMonitor reports referring to the press service of Ministry of Trade and Integration.

The opening of the country pavilion at the Alibaba site is a confirmation of the increased demand of foreign buyers for products from Kazakhstan placed on the platform.

Torebayev noted that today e-commerce is going through dynamic growth and it is a global trend, that Kazakhstan is successfully keeping up with. Thanks to cooperation with Alibaba, many Kazakhstani companies have developed e-commerce channels as a tool for the proactive promotion of their products to foreign markets. 

The Country Pavilion today includes 130 domestic companies with the status of Gold Supplier that put on sale more than 7,500 goods.

Thanks to the support of the promotion of companies on the Alibaba.com platform, the total sales of companies brought to the platform amount to about $167.7 million. Foreign buyers from countries such as China, Macedonia, the UAE, Oman, the EAEU countries and Central Asia have shown interest in Kazakh plastic toys, filters, electrical equipment, textile products, oils, grain products, honey and frozen meat.

Among the CIS and EAEU countries, the pavilion of Kazakhstan became the second after the Russian Federation on the Alibaba.com platform.

In 2021, JSC QazTrade, the operator of measures to bring companies to the platform, and the company Alibaba.com signed a Framework Agreement on cooperation and promotion of Kazakhstani goods through the platform to world markets.

Since 2019, 200 companies have already received state support to launch on the platform Alibaba.com.

Alibaba is China's leading e-commerce marketplace with a turnover of $106 billion (2021). Their main activities are trading operations between companies under the B2B scheme and online retail.
