Mangystau Hub tech park was inaugurated in Aktau, the Mangystau region, joining a network of 12 regional hubs in Kazakhstan managed by Astana Hub technopark, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Astana Hub.

About the hub: The primary objective of Mangystau Hub is to cultivate a local IT community, foster a sustainable stream of IT talents, and promote their development in the region. “The hub will host various events, trainings, and conferences aimed at enhancing the skills of local IT specialists and nurturing innovative projects,” the Astana Hub press service reported on April 2.

During the opening of Mangystau Hub, 8 IT projects were presented: AMS SYSTEM, qMeta, Mediana Services Limited, Smart EDUS, AGSA, Libsystem.kz, Rebels, Gylym.ai, and EcoAvtomat (ЭкоАвтомат).

The hub was established on the initiative of Astana Hub with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, Mangystau region administration, and Sergek Group.

Why it matters: Daniya Akhmetova, Managing Director of Astana Hub, emphasized the importance of regional hubs in fostering the development of the IT sphere across different regions. These hubs serve as catalysts for local startups, entrepreneurs, and specialists, providing access to educational programs, networking opportunities, investment, and technological resources.

Various activities including workshops, Olympiads, hackathons, offline and online meetings are actively organized in partnership with Digital Nomads and Google Developers Group in the regions. Akhmetova expressed confidence that Mangystau Hub will emerge as a key platform for the IT industry's development in the region.

Kazakhstan’s IT Hub Network: Currently, Astana Hub manages IT hubs operating in 13 regions of the country in collaboration with akimats and private partners. These regions include Abai IT Valley, Kyzylorda Hub, Digital Jetisu, Zhambyl Hub, Oskemen IT Hub, Jaiq Hub, Turkistan IT Hub, Qostanai IT Hub, Aqtobe IT Hub, Aqmola IT Hub, Pavlodar IT Hub, Terrikon Valley, and Mangystau Hub.

In 2024, Astana Hub plans to establish regional hubs in 6 more cities: Atyrau, Shymkent, Konayev, Zhezkazgan, Petropavl, and Zhanaozen.

Hubs in Numbers: Throughout 2023, the country's regional hubs hosted:

  • 784 ICT events, with approximately 25,000 participants in attendance.

  • 7 ICT forums.

These activities have led to 70 companies joining Astana Hub.
