Kazakhstan, Switzerland Discuss New Investment Projects

Minister of Foreign Affairs met with representatives of INOKS Capital, Stadler Rail, Воѕсhung and MSC

During a working visit to Geneva, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu met with the leadership of the Swiss companies INOKS Capital, Stadler Rail, Воѕсhung and MSC on February 28. The parties discussed current and new investment projects in Kazakhstan in the priority areas of the national economy – agriculture, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics industry, as reported by the press service of the MFA.

The partners were informed about the economic reforms successfully implemented in Kazakhstan, investment policy and preferences, and the advantages of doing business in Kazakhstan. Minister Nurtleu emphasized the role of the Foreign Ministry in attracting foreign investment in Kazakhstan’s economy and expressed support for Swiss businessmen in implementing their plans to expand their presence in Kazakhstan.

In turn, representatives of the European business community positively assessed the investment climate and sustainable economic growth of Kazakhstan, the country’s importance in ensuring food and energy security and expressed readiness to diversify cooperation and develop promising projects, including the cultivation and irrigation of orchards in the Almaty region, production of European standard passenger cars and auxiliary road equipment in Kazakhstan.

The implementation of the agreements reached following the meetings on attracting financing, opening and localizing production facilities and creating new jobs will contribute to the growth of the national economy.

Switzerland is one of the three largest foreign investors in Kazakhstan. According to the results of the 3rd quarter of 2023, the inflow of Swiss investments in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.9 billion US dollars. The total volume of FDI has reached 34.6 billion US dollars since 2005.
