On January 29, the Minister of Transport, Marat Karabayev, engaged in discussions with the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry.

The meeting centered on enhancing transportation potential in Kazakhstan and Europe, with a specific emphasis on fostering cooperation for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

The parties explored the prospect of formalizing an agreement with the European Union (EU) to utilize the full capacity of the TITR, focusing on infrastructure development and the expansion of terminal networks. Discussions also covered the implementation of a permit-free single-document system for Kazakhstan.

Moreover, the discussion addressed the transfer of the Aktau and Kuryk seaports under a ship-or-pay agreement, aiming to fortify the maritime fleet and establish a container hub in the Caspian region.
