Kazakh Companies to Export Meat and Fertilizers to Iran

The trade mission to Iran resulted in export contracts worth $60 million

A trade and economic mission was held during the visit of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov to Iran. As a result of business meetings, the parties signed export contracts for the supply of Kazakhstani fertilizers, oil and fat products, and cattle meat worth over $60 million to Iran, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center.

Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev noted that the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Iran in 2022 totaled $528 million (19.8% increase y/y).

Increasing the trade turnover up to $3 billion between our countries is one of the tasks set before our governments. We are confident that this year our countries will be able to significantly increase mutual trade turnover.

QazTrade noted that Iranian businessmen have also expressed interest in ferroalloy and food product supply. Preliminary agreements to establish cooperation have been reached.

The trade mission was attended by 20 Kazakh producers of food, chemical, construction, consumer goods, and metallurgy industries.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, the Iran-Kazakhstan Joint Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce, Mining and Agriculture of Iran, and over 150 counterparts from the Iranian side.
