Movie theaters in Kazakhstan have tripled their revenues, QazMonitor reports citing DataHub Telegram-channel of the First Credit Bureau.
However, the pre-pandemic indicators are still far away, analysts say. According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, the volume of film screening services in Kazakhstan exceeded 14.5 billion tenge in the first nine months of 2022.
"This is 3.1 times more than in January-September 2021 (about 4.7 billion tenge). But the levels of 2018 (16.3 billion tenge) and 2019 (almost 16 billion tenge) have not yet been achieved. And this is despite the fact that in pre-pandemic times, tickets were much cheaper: then, on average, a person paid a little more than 1,200 tenge. Now it is 1,800 tenge. Just in ten months of 2022, the price of tickets rose by 11.4%," say the analysts.
The residents of Atyrau (2,683 tenge) and Shymkent (2,637 tenge) pay the most for movie tickets. The cheapest movies are in Semey (1,200 tenge) and Taraz (1,243 tenge).
