On December 11, at 12:39 a.m., the Department of Emergency Situations of the Kostanay region received a preliminary report of an explosion in the Amangeldy settlement, causing the collapse of a one-story building designated for truck repair, QazMonitor reports citing the Department’s press service.

Twelve people have sought medical assistance, and rescuers have pulled two individuals from under the rubble, announced the head of the regional department, Kairat Kassym.

“We are conducting rescue operations, and two individuals have been found. They were transferred to ambulance crews. The third person has a leg wedged under the slabs. The rescue work is complicated by the fact that the wall overhangs at an angle and is supported by the roof. The operation here is ‘intricate,’ and simply using a large number of machines will not solve the problem," said Kassym.

As of 3:00 p.m., the rescuers have successfully freed the individual who had his leg trapped under the slabs, Kazinform reported. Authorities suspect that up to three more people, employees of the enterprise working in this building, might be under the rubble. However, the exact number of people trapped is unknown. The search is complicated by a significant amount of machinery clutter that was damaged in the explosion.
